  • To record and track your visit history
  • To fetch weather conditions when logging visits
  • To generate year-over-year analytics
  • To protect your data with biometric authentication (if enabled)

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. There is no cloud sync, no user accounts, and no remote database.

We do NOT:

  • Store your data on our servers
  • Share your data with third parties
  • Sell your personal information
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Collect analytics or usage data
  • Include any tracking mechanisms

Location Data

SpotVault uses your device's location services to record GPS coordinates of your foraging spots. Your location is:

  • Stored only on your device
  • Never transmitted to external servers
  • Not shared with any third parties
  • Used only for spot placement and map display

You can revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings.

Weather Data

When you log a visit, SpotVault may use Apple's WeatherKit to fetch current weather conditions:

  • Only your approximate coordinates are sent to Apple's weather service
  • No other data is shared with Apple
  • Weather data is stored locally with your visit record
  • This is subject to Apple's own privacy policy

Photos

Photos you attach to visits are:

  • Compressed to reduce storage size
  • Stored locally within the app's data container
  • Never uploaded to any server
  • Not shared with any third party

Biometric Authentication

If you enable App Lock, SpotVault uses your device's Face ID or Touch ID for authentication:

  • Biometric data is handled entirely by the operating system
  • SpotVault never accesses or stores your biometric information
  • You can disable App Lock at any time in Settings

Data Export

SpotVault provides a JSON export feature:

  • Creates a local backup file on your device
  • The file is generated and stored locally
  • Nothing is transmitted unless you choose to share it yourself

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following Apple services:

  • Apple WeatherKit for weather conditions (sends only coordinates to Apple)
  • Apple LocalAuthentication for Face ID / Touch ID (biometric data handled by OS)

We do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all your data within the app
  • Delete all your data from the app
  • Revoke notification permissions

Children's Privacy
